Great Lakes Brewing now more accurately named

Wednesday 17 September 2008

It’s taken forever, but beer from Cleveland’s Great Lakes Brewing Company is now available on the shores of Lake Ontario as well. It’s for sale at Hegedorn’s, Beers of the World, and finer pubs throughout the Rochester area. My pick: The Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold. It’s got plenty of body, yet enough of a “quaffability factor” to refresh as well.

GLDG is currently on draft at the Tap & Mallet, but probably not for too long. I’ll do my part to assist in its disappearance.

The Great Lakes brews are solid across the board. The DG is a fave of mine. GL was distributed here before, disappeared for quite a while and now are back thanks to Lake Bev.

Yeah yeah we know you love German Lager crap to a fault

Blackout stout, Nosferatu, And Burning River blow the metallic bland dortmunder away. not to mention the awesome barrel aged Blackout stout.

You guys are both right. I spent an evening at the brewery’s bar in Cleveland in 2004 and like pretty much everything. I have yet to find the DG metallic though.

Bought a variety pack at Hegedorns and the Dortmunder made me salivate. Love it.
