Rochester Beer for Paetec Park!
I’m a huge soccer fan, and a huge fan and season ticket holder for our local professional soccer team, the Rochester Rhinos.
Local Rochester readers will know of the team’s financial struggles, and near demise, over the past couple of years. Now, thanks to the team’s purchase by Utica banker Rob Clark, our season is saved. Our stadium is saved.
Our team is going to be out on that pitch.
For many fans, one of the most glaring issues was the ineptitude of godawful concession company Delaware North. They’re the ones who tried to carge me the import price for a bottle of J.W. Dundee’s IPA, brewed half a mile from the stadium, last season. Well they’re gone, and Clark is looking for a more local approach to concessions.
Mr. Clark, in addition to the historic High Falls Brewery, we have two local breweries who’ve just invested in Rochester the way you’ve invested in the Rhinos. The Rohrbach Brewing Company and Custom Brewcrafters have each built new, larger facilities to produce more and better beer than ever before. You need this beer in your stadium. With growth rates of up to 40% last year, these beers are now the beers of Rochester and of Rochesterians.
Who’s with me? If you want to see the best local beer at PTP this summer, leave me your comments, and I’ll forward this informal potition to the PTP front office as soon as it looks impressive.

I hate soccer, but I whole-heartedly agree with the sentiment
I’ll second that. No reason why ALL local products (beers and others) should not be showcased at our local sports venues. Not only there but we should see them more often at other events, concerts, festivals, etc. It really bugs the shite out of me to go a local event see only Labatt or Bud available.
Definitely! I’d take local craft beer over flavourless macro rubbish any day of the week. Perhaps those who enjoy CB’s and Rohrbach’s but don’t usually go to see the Rhino’s may even be tempted by the beer on offer…?
FUCK YEAH!
Two things I love about attending local sports events.
1. Local Beer.
2. Local food (Zweigle’s Red Hot please)
If one of those items isn’t available, somethings
missing from the overall experience and it’s not as
enjoyable as it could be. As far as I’m concerned there should
only be local beer available. All you Bud/Labatt’s lovers would have to settle for a Genny Light or Cream Ale if you want something on the lighter side of things. So come on buddy get our local brew in there!
P.S. is it just me or was the old logo better than the new one?
The bottom line is that I’m happy the teams in stable hands now but
it just seems that it’s a little amateur looking as compared to before.
I’m down.
I’m not much of a soccer fan. I’ve only been to one game and that was at Frontier. Some affordable local beers and food and I’d make it to a few games a year. If they can sell the experience they’d draw a non-soccerfan crowd and make some money on the concessions too.
The contract on Blue Cross is up too… All they have is a small Custom Brewcrafter stand hiden at the end. They kicked out Red Osier too!
Not only is it cool to have local beer at a local sporting event but when the beer is as good as CB’s and Rohrbach’s…well, you can’t beat that. I’m in love with Bruce’s Best Bitter and another one of my ROC favourites is the Pale Ale at Hogan’s. Go Rhinos! Go Local!!
Local beer at sporting events here should be a given - let’s make it happen!
I hate Soccer. I make no bones about it. Actually I get a great personal satisfaction every time I see Soccer fail or continue to fail in this country. However Soccer in Rochester leaves me torn. I hate Soccer, but I do love my home city. Because I love Crapchester, I don’t want to see things like sporting teams (even if they are all minor) fail. The Rhinos were going to fail until a Uttica banker stepped in. I think it would be a good show if he stocked the concession stands with local products including beer. I am the Champion of Macro Beer, however I do like the hometown stuff as well. If one goes to a Soccer game or a Baseball game or a Curling event here in Crapchester they should be able to get a Genny Light or a brew from Custom Brewcrafters or Rohrbach. Let me get a Zweigle’s red or white hot while I’m at it. If soccer is going to stay, then start serving up some good home town beer and grub at Green Giant Field.
Sign me up for the petition as well and let me know of any progress if ya don’t mind, I’ll post it on my blog that relates to soccer and the Rhinos, I think it’d be a great idea. I buy alot of High Falls Brewery stuff anyhow just cuz it’s local
